A persistent action button that put Copilot and primary actions one tap away in Outlook. It started on mobile and expanded to desktop and web, a pattern Microsoft planned to extend across Office.
utlook mobile had three competing entry points: a Floating Action Button with split-button affordance and minimal usage, a Copilot M365 Chat module with limited value, and a Draft Docking secondary FAB on the way. Together they took up screen real estate, fragmented the surface, and made Copilot harder, not easier, to find.

plates · 4 of 4We shipped DAB to Outlook on iOS and Android, and the work became part of how Microsoft Design describes the new Copilot mobile experience. A study with 150+ users responded really well, and early Chat usage looked promising.
Mobile AIX00 study: users responded really well to DAB. Catalyst usage in BizChat grew through the launch window in October.
Early data was very promising. There was some novelty, but still promising.
