'd sit down and get overwhelmed by everything I needed to do. Instead of focusing in and making the most of my time, I'd get distracted. Simple timers never got me to a focus state. The hard part was never the timer. It was everything before it: narrowing it all down to the one thing to actually start on.
I knew there had to be a better way. The general AI models don't help here. Ask one and it adds more to your list instead of helping you narrow in on what actually needs doing. So I built the part that was missing. Brukas is a focus coach. You tell it what's on your mind, and it asks one question at a time until you've narrowed to the single thing you're going to do. Then a timer runs (Pomodoro, Power Hour, or stopwatch) and it gets out of the way. It's not a to-do app. It's a do app. The coaching is the product, not a feature wrapped around a timer.
Not a todo app.A do app.
One pass through the loop, narrated.
You dump everything on your mind. The pitch deck, a pile of emails, a signup bug.
Brukas asks one question to narrow it down, instead of timing a choice you have not made yet.
You commit to a single thing with a duration. "The pitch deck, 25 minutes."
A timer starts and gets out of the way.
I shipped all of this solo by directing AI agents.
- 01Directed, not vibe-coded
A designer who shipped it by directing agents.
The app, the backend, the AI, payments, the brand. Built with intent over about six months, not vibe-coded over a weekend. The agents went fast. The judgment was mine.
One lead. Many agents. The judgment stays up front.
- 02Real rigor
An eval harness and nearly 900 tests.
An in-app evaluation harness scores the coach against neurodiverse personas with an LLM-as-judge on a rubric of brevity, clarity, guidance, warmth, and pacing. Alongside it, 896 test functions across 42 files.

An App Store rejection I traced to the root.
Apple rejected the purchase under Guideline 2.1(b). I wrote diagnostic scripts against the App Store Connect API, ruled out the obvious causes, and found corrupt state on the original subscription group. A fresh group reached Ready to Submit, and the resubmit was approved.

Warm Clay, a design system of its own.
Surfaces are ceramic and tactile, not glass, with no blur materials anywhere. Terracotta on warm cream, shadows tinted warm clay instead of neutral black, Space Mono paired with Plus Jakarta Sans, a 4pt grid, and Phosphor icons. It carries its own anti-pattern rulebook.
“Not a to-do app. A do app.”
Brukas is live on the App Store. Half the profit goes to the Attention Deficit Disorder Association (ADDA), the ADHD charity, because focus is everyone's problem but it hits some people hardest.
