Spend & Visits

Spend was an iOS expense tracker from the MileIQ team, launched in October 2018 as a Microsoft Garage project. It pulled purchases from your linked cards automatically, and you matched receipts, tagged expenses and exported them for reimbursement or taxes. Visits logged what happened once you arrived: how long you spent at each stop and what you did there, ready to report back.

After Microsoft acquired MileIQ, Spend was the next app in the IQ suite. It took on small business expensing, tied it to mileage and visits, and set out to automate the admin through auto-classification, machine learning that improved with your data, and OCR that read receipts. I owned inception, strategy, the core experience and the design system, then handed it to junior designers as a growth opportunity. Visits I took from concept and prototypes through a beta; it never launched publicly.
