Money in Excel

A personal finance add-in for Excel, part of Microsoft 365 Personal and Family. It connected bank, credit and investment accounts through Plaid and pulled every transaction into one workbook, where smart templates for a monthly snapshot, recurring expenses and net worth updated themselves. It launched in June 2020 and was retired in June 2023.

Money in Excel spun out of Spend after we noticed people using it to budget their personal finances, so we took that intelligence somewhere they already lived. I owned product and design direction, the core experience, onboarding and templates. Early users responded well, but the economics didn't hold and it was wound down.
